OUIL503- In Cold Blood Cover- Cover 1 Final

Below is the 1st final design for In Cold Blood. Overall I am quite pleased with how well the cover has turned out. I like the bold graphic look of it and think it would really stand out on a book shelf. I think the concept of the cover could do with some work, as I thing the message can be portrayed as quite vague without any previous explanation.

I think the texture in the blood drip really adds some depth to the image, and the separated contrast between the text and the blood drop add quite a bit of interest to the image. The best thing I got out of designing this cover is probably the use of type within my work. I previously always thought that type is used around an image as an added extra, however, through this brief I have discovered how to use type within an image to enhance it, I will definitely look to use more type within my work moving forward.
