OUIL406- Visual Communication- Initial Ideas

After thinking about what kind of character I wanted to create, I started to get down some initial ideas of the kind of thing I wanted to do. I started by listing items that were around my room, thinking about how they work and function and thinking about how a character could be created through the objects aesthetics, functions, and actions.

I loved the idea of creating a character that moves and acts in a way that it would as if it was being used by a person, but moving/ functioning itself.

I toyed around with how the objects would react to how they were used. How their expressions and physical representation can change because of how they are used. I thought about remotes and controls, and the repetitive nature of how they are used.

I then went on to look at actual character design, as in the creation of a new character from scratch. Character design is something I have never really done much of, but I was really excited about having to be able to create fresh ideas, possibly from reference but potentially also from imagination. This was exciting as a lot of the course so far has been reference based work.
