OUIL406- Visual Communication

Initial Thoughts
As is the typical theme for me when we receive a new brief, I am really excited about this one. I feel this brief is giving everyone the opportunity to just do what we want to do. I have tried through previous briefs to push myself into things that I was uncomfortable with i.e. use of colour and other analogue media. And now that I feel I have tried it, I'm just not sure I like using colour, nor do I feel analogue media is something I enjoy either.

So for this brief I'm not going to go wild on colour, I may use some where appropriate, nor am I going to go wild on analogue media. I want to focus my efforts on digital work, and focus on the way I want to work. Although this module is Brief driven, I feel it is giving us a lot of freedom to do what we want with characters.
Recently I have been more and more intrigued with creating custom Photoshop brushes and utilizing them in my own work would be a great test for them. I want to be able to recreate effects of analogue media, but with the convenience and adaptability of digital tools.

See below. A simple Image I created using brushes I built from scratch. I wanted the brushes to give an inked effect, and the way they are created allows me to recreate the slight variations in line weight (something Matt has said I need to work on) As well as creating a nice aesthetic of its own accord.
